Thanks Peter

Good to know what riders are actually thinking and saying and opinion on what "their" authorities are doing.

In our comments in the article we did say, "Regardless of who is at fault, if you hit a car, you hit a car but it is down to more than just speed".

Here in Northern Ireland at RIGHT TO RIDE, which I am involved in, our Elaine Hardy has published the "NI Motorcycle Fatality Report 2012".

The report is an indepth study of 39 cases relating to motorcycle fatalities in Northern Ireland (UK) between 2004 and 2010, it contains an analysis of 39 collisions investigated and includes information relating to vehicle data, the collision scene and the environment as well as human factors.

Overall, 41 motorcyclists were fatality injured, equal to 36% of total motorcycle fatalities during 2004 and 2010 in Northern Ireland.

As regards driver training the report says, "Emphasis is needed in car driver training to include more focus on scanning for VRUs (Vulnerable Road Users)."

For riders, "The consensus was that the only reliable way to prevent motorcyclist injuries and deaths is to prevent the collision in the first place, which means the rider needs to get his/her eyes up and scanning ahead, taking evasive action when a potential collision is still several seconds from happening."

I can't say the campaign was well received over here in Australia. Telling the bloke that lies bleeding in the street that it is all his fault that he hit the car that pulled out in front of him is a really good way to get the intended audience off side straight away.

Some motorcycle groups took the advert and added in a new voice over that showed where the rider went wrong in the lead up to the collision, what actions he could have taken to avoid the accident and gave up on the TAC mantra of 'speed kills' which produced a much better result that riders could identify with.

And one because us riders believe that TAC have lost the plot when it comes to rider safety:

Hi Bob we had this dicussion via email regarding the DO NOT REMOVE HELMET sticker.

And your assesment of that debate and what I said seems to be, that you still do not get what I was saying.

The problem in the real world people, even those that have done first aid that includes helmet removal, may not then remove a helmet.

As you know the only time that it is trained to remove a helmet is, if the casualty is not breathing, so even with a sticker and not breathing it may be only a matter of opening an airway and that does not necessarily require helmet removal.

The whole debate on the sticker comes down to the riders choice whether to place this on their helmet, they may not wish to have this on their helmet and that is my stance.

Thus personally the reason why I would like the "Crash Card" sticker not to carry these words.

The "Crash Card" and identifing sticker is not really for the general public it is for the emergency services to be aware that there may be life saving information on the card and indentification.

For Northern Ireland if anybody is interested in a First Aid course details are at First Aid For Riders www.firstaidforriders.org

Please understand that if u have an improved helmet sticker with some words on to the effect DO NOT REMOVE HELMET
it doesnt mean in the event of the casualty not breathing and therefore in danger of dying.due to lack of attention.

Each casualty should be assest and if two are found unconscious both wearinmg hemets but one with a sticker on they should not be religated to last just because of that sticker.

I say this in all honesty because i believe that some believe that the wording is sacrosanct, as sort of the last will and testament, that under no circumstances should you remove that helmet.and that to do so is against such an expressed wish and by doing so you leave yourself open litigation. IT SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED AS SUCH.

Without the ability to breath a casualty WILL die but few actually die from a broken neck bone

Your decission.
